The company Alpha Sign, based in Hünenberg in the canton of Zug, Switzerland, has been providing advertising solutions for its clients since 1990. The professionals from the Alpha Sign team around owner Bruno Neuschwander specialise in aspects of advertising technology.
The range of services the company offers includes classical materials such as textile printing for trade fairs, external branding and vehicle branding, as well as specialised applications for façades and wall branding with LEDs, or milling and laser engraving. The company’s strength lies in the production of sophisticated individual solutions. “When our clients express unusual requests, we get excited,” explains Bruno Neuschwander. “For us, quality means that the customer will come to us and not the goods.”
To be able to provide the best possible service to its clients, the company bought an Epson SureColor SC-S80600 large-scale printer with red and orange ink in the summer of 2016. “We use the Epson device mainly for printing vehicle branding films, but also for roll-up banners and advertising stickers,” explains Neuschwander. “Another striking task is sub-printing white on films.” Alpha Sign’s customers – agencies, graphic designers and graphics departments that do not want to produce materials themselves – provide the print data either as a print-optimised PDF or in another common graphics format, such as TIFF. The colours on these templates are frequently defined in the Pantone Matching System so that the SC-S80600 produces the precise colour. This is particularly successful with the Epson because of thanks to its UltraChrome GS3 ink sets, it covers up to 98 percent of Pantone colours on appropriate media and has been certified as such.
When switching from the old printing solution to the Epson, such matters as the simple, unproblematic integration into the Alpha Sign workflow were very helpful. “The simple handling of the Epson, as well as the excellent value for money, were key to its purchase,” explains Neuschwander. “Depending on the order level, up to seven employees can work with the machine now, and we print around 100 m² per month. Thanks to the simple handling, they use the Epson to its full potential without needing to go through complicated training.” The print throughput and quality meet the company’s demands, so it is not surprising that Neuschwander is positive about his purchase. “With this reliable machine, we have fewer printing errors than before, and we really value the easy manner in which it works. Also, the Pantone colours are reproduced very precisely, and this meets the clients’ requirements. The material handling with the roll-to-roll unit is an excellent solution. So we really do recommend the Epson SureColor.”
